Tough Battles at Castelletto for Boccolacci

Dorian Boccolacci has just concluded his second weekend on the circuit of «7 Laghi» at Castelletto (Italy). His two competitions were completely different: in the first, he competed in the Italian Championship and in the second in the WSK Final Cup, in the first he was in KZ2 and in the second in KF, in the first he experienced a double withdrawal and then, in the second, he took a second place on the final podium: what all these elements have in common, though, is the same determination to win, as well as the increasingly stunning performances of a driver who is considered one of the most talented of his generation. The other elements that these two meetings have in common are the Energy Corse team and Dorian’s reference duo, i.e. Luigina Guerrini and Simone Sorio, who are true perfectionists as far as his Energy/TM kart set-up is concerned. In the last round of the Italian Championship, Dorian competed in KZ2, the class of powerful gearbox engines, where he conquered an incredible victory in the CIK-FIA International Super Cup at Varenne in September, on his second race in this discipline. This time, again, he had an extraordinary TM engine prepared by Bruno Daldosso. He found himself in the middle of the contenders for the Italian title, but it did not take him long to reach the lead pack; indeed, he was third in timed qualifying and second after the qualifying heats, but was sent off the track by a contact and was forced to retire in Race 1. He started last in Race 2, but managed to climb up and fight for victory thanks to his extraordinary times, much faster than his competitors’. Unfortunately he was victim of another contact and lost all the ground he had regained with so much effort. But his performance did not go unnoticed! He “jumped” from the seat of his KZ2 to that of his KF, two karts that are pretty different as far as driving is concerned, for the WSK Final Cup. Throughout the weekend his speed was always a little lower that the others, but he set some excellent performances anyway. «I know that I will not be able to go for victory if the track is dry in the final race» Dorian explained on Saturday. «I lack a bit of pure performance compared to the leaders. It is not going to be easy!» This concern, however, did not stop him from winning a qualifying heat and ending the other two heats brilliantly, considering that grip was not ideal because of a few raindrops that kept the track wet throughout the day. But on Sunday, the weather improved progressively through the day. Dorian made a head start in the pre-final, but could not resist Callum Ilott’s and Marco Maestranzi’s attack. The final race took place in the sun and Dorian fought hard from the beginning to the end to make up for a slight performance handicap, despite improvements made by his team. He managed to take second place after a series of close-fought duels. Ten drivers were faster than Dorian in this race, but he crossed the finish line ahead of most of them anyway. Though victory did not come to reward his two participations at Castelletto, Dorian can be satisfied with his performances in two different classes, within a week from each other. Dorian was very fast but unlucky in KZ2, though the result achieved in KF shows that he is also capable of making up for a lack of mechanical performance thanks to an unfailing determination to join the podium, despite it all. Energy Corse, A Reference Point for KZ2

Held in France on the spectacular circuit of Varennes sur Allier on 20, 21, and 22 September, the CIK-FIA KZ2 International Super Cup is considered a real World Cup, with the presence of all the best KZ2 drivers and a high number of entrants (as many as 86)! Once again, the Energy Corse Team proved to be one of the great names in this class. Its drivers excelled during the whole weekend, especially Dorian Boccolacci. The Lotus F1 Junior Team driver won five qualifying heats and his pre-final and finally triumphed in the final race behind the wheel of his top-performing Energy-TM. The 2013 KZ2 International Super Cup provided the Energy Corse team yet another opportunity to offer the many drivers who belong to its structure the best possible conditions to aim for good results. Team manager Mick Panigada and Energy highly competent support team provided useful advice to improve drivers’ performances and refine kart preparation. Energy was also one of the best represented brands in KZ2. At Varennes, Energy was joined by young Dorian Boccolacci, who competes in KF. “When he was still a Junior in 2012, Dorian had a great first season in KF and this first international event has been a real-life test behind the wheel of a 125cc gearbox kart“, Mick Panigada commented. After his first experience in this class the previous week in the Italian Championship, Boccolacci showed his fast adaptation skills. He set a promising 7th time in timed qualifying, preceding his team mate Simas Juodvirsis, European Champion in 2012. The two Energy drivers replicated these excellent performances by taking turns in the first place during the qualifying heats, while Joel Johansson showed some remarkable recoveries in the pack. The pre-finals confirmed the competitiveness of Energy-TM karts, with a special mention for Boccolacci who secured a first-line position in the final race. But the French driver did not intend to stop there. Though the race was tough, he controlled his final brilliantly, made some fantastic passes and crossed the finish line as the winner. This was an extraordinary feat for Dorian as well as for the team supporting the Lotus F1 Junior Team driver. Due to a bit of pushing and shoving in the chasing pack, Juodvirsis and Johansson could not do better than 9th and 11th. Once again, Energy can be very satisfied with the results achieved in this international race. Dominik Schmidt, François Santoni, Yan Pesce, and Adam Maatougui showed some interesting performances in the qualifying heats, with a special mention for Maatougui, who had the satisfaction to enter the final race, where he achieved his best result at international level.   Stupenkov Brilliant in KF World Championship The KF World Championship made its debut in England, on the PF International circuit of Brandon. Egor Stupenkov produced a great performance there. Concluding the final race with a 4th place despite a 43rd time in timed qualifying is definitely an impressive result! Always in the fastest group, the young Russian drove his kart in an exciting chase race. His efforts as well as those of the Energy Corse Team were rewarded by a 6th place in his pre-final and a return to 4th place in the final, not far from the podium. The competitiveness of Energy-TM karts was confirmed by Dorian Boccolacci’s 9th place despite a difficult start and by Vasiliy Romanov’s 14th position. Sam Snell drove flawlessly in the heats and in the pre-final, but unfortunately was forced to withdraw in the final

Energy Corse Leader of the Two WSK Series

There are not many international teams with such a prestigious list of achievements over the last five years. Victory is definitely in Energy Corse’s DNA: CIK-FIA championships, WSK series, German Championship, and major international classic races are as many opportunities for the Italian brand to see its drivers climb onto the podium. Over the last few weeks, Energy and its driver Dorian Boccolacci have triumphed in the WSK Euro Series at Sarno and in the WSK Master Series at Precenicco. The Lotus F1 Junior Team has increased its lead in the Euro Series and has already secured the title in the Master Series, when there is still one round to go! The season of 2013 European Championships is about to start and Energy Corse can be very satisfied with the work made since the beginning of the year as well as with results achieved. Chassis and karts are perfectly fine-tuned, cooperation with carefully chosen engine mechanics has proved to be very effective and the technical team continues to support drivers to enable them to perform at their very best on track. WSK Master Series: The Title One Round in Advance!Since he has been driving an Energy chassis, Dorian Boccolacci just keeps winning. “We are proud and happy that the Lotus F1 Junior Team has chosen us to support Dorian in KF competitions this season”, said the team manager Mick Panigada. “Nothing is left to chance”, continued the young Frenchman. “Preparation of races and karts, racing strategy, tyre wear analysis… The team and its technicians are really doing an excellent job, with a very high level of professionalism. I have really enjoyed my trips for the last competitions of the WSK, the Euro Series at Sarno and the Master Series at Precenicco. These two circuits are very different: the former is very fast while the latter is more technical, but in both cases performances were great. I could make the difference each time during the finals. Winning the 2013 WSK Master Series is a very stimulating experience and I will try and do the same in the Euro Series, at the final round at Genk (Belgium)”. 3 Energy in KF Top 10Of course, Dorian Boccolacci is not the only talented driver in the Energy Corse team. The Canadian Parker Thomson has done wonders again in KF Junior and was one of the top players both at Sarno and Precenicco. In KF, Vasily Romanov kept a good pace going in the WSK Euro Series (4th in the pre-final), but the fast Russian driver was not equally successful in the final. He took his revenge at Precenicco by concluding with a 4th place in the final, two places ahead of his compatriot Egor Stupenkov, who is also very competitive. As for Sam Snell, he is still one of the emerging talents to be reckoned with at the forthcoming European Championship.Energy Corse also confirmed its potential in KZ2: 3rd and 4th in Final 1, and then 3rd and 6th in Final 2! Francesco Celenta and Simas Juodvirsis concluded with two brilliant results in the WSK Euro Series at Sarno. One-Two Finish in RussiaThe second round of the Russian Championship was held at Belogrod on 11 and 12 May and drivers wearing Energy Corse colours won everything in KF. Vasily Romanov won ahead of Egor Stupenkov. The “Energy Power” is definitely still

Germany: Energy Wins in KF and KF-Junior

The Energy brand has always been well-represented in the German Championship (DKM), with a strong involvement from its importer (Jedi Racing Team) and from the teams that have chosen Energy chassis. At the opening round at Ampfing, the official team moved there and came back with some brilliant results both in KF and KF-Junior. Dorian Boccolacci was unbeatable in KF. Pole position, heats, Race 1 and Race 2: the driver from Lotus F1 Junior Team programme won everything! Parker Thompson emerged too in KF-Junior: this young Canadian was 2nd at the end of the heats and concluded Race 1 with a third place, before brilliantly conquering a victory in Race 2. An excellent 5th place by the Danish driver Nicolai Kjergaard (TK Racing) is also worth mentioning. WSK: Boccolacci Leads the Two Series Chosen by the Lotus F1 Junior Team to support its driver Dorian Boccolacci in international competitions, the Energy Corse team is carrying forward one of the missions it has been pursuing for a number of years in karting: to discover and promote young drivers. Since the beginning of the season, this agreement has led to top level performances, which are still continuing. Boccolacci won the pre-final and was second in the final at the WSK Euro Series in Zuera. Two weeks later, at Sarno, during the WSK Master Series, he took a third and a second place. Now that the Championship is midway through in the two series, this young French driver leads the two classifications in KF! Several Energy Corse drivers have achieved excellent results. Joel Johansson and Simas Juodvirsis were both back in the top 5 at Zuera in KZ2, as did Parker Thompson in KF-Junior at Sarno. The Canadian is currently very close to 4th place in the WSK Master Series. As for Sam Snell (who staged a superb fight back at Sarno), Vasily Romanov, and Egor Stupenkov, they have all taken advantage of the last few races to fine tune their preparation for the forthcoming European Championship. Energy, Rotax Partner Great news for Energy! The Italian brand has been chosen among chassis suppliers for next Rotax Grand Finals. It will be the top event of the end of the season, considering that it will be held for the first time in the US, and more precisely in New Orleans. This announcement is the logical consequence of all the efforts made by Energy on the American continent and on the Rotax

WSK Master Series 2013 – I round – La Conca – Energy Grabs First Win in 2013

A victory for Boccolacci and a convincing performance for Snell in KF, a third place for Parker Thomson in KF Junior and remarkable performances for Juodvirsis in KZ2 at the opening round of the WSK Master Series… As is his habit at the beginning of each season, the Energy Corse team has achieved its goal on the La Conca circuit, revealing its determination to be once again among the teams capable of fighting for major international victories in 2013. Energy Corse is definitely not a team that rests on its laurels. Soon after the end of the 2012 season with a last victory at Las Vegas, the Italian team went back to work to prepare at best for this new year. Its professionalism and know-how, as well as its capacity to support drivers in their path to the top, have worked miracles again. – Dorian Boccolacci (Energy-TM), who set the second absolute time in timed practice, drove a fantastic race on the attack and crossed the finish line of the KF final in the lead. There is already a perfect synergy between the French driver, who has joined the “Lotus F1 Junior Team” programme, and his team! – 11th in the pre-final and 12th in the final, the Russian Vasily Romanov kept a fast pace, while his compatriot Egor Stupenkov staged some brilliant recoveries in the heats, but paid dearly his retirement in the pre-final. As for Sam Snell (Energy-Parilla), he battled with the leaders throughout the race and scored the points attributed to the 3rd place in the pre-final and to the 6th in the KF final. – Congratulations to Isac Valtonen and Alessio Polara (Gandolfi Ennio Racing), who drove excellent pre-finals and were able to enter to the Juniors final and to acquire some more experience. The best result came from Parker Thomson (Energy-TM), who drove a flawless race on his debut in KFJ. After an excellent performance in the pre-final, he confirmed his state of form by ranking third in the final. Energy Corse’s advice has worked out perfectly! – Michele Di Martino (Jedi Racing Team) and Gaetano Di Mauro competed on their Energy chassis in the KZ2 category, as did Simas Juodvirsis. The European Champion has just renewed his confidence in the Energy Corse team and felt no inferiority complex against the best KZ1 drivers. Indeed, he was 10th in Saturday’s final and started 6th in Final 2, before he was forced down the order to 13th after a few race incidents. – Finally, a little reference to Freddie Hunt. The son of James Hunt, World F1 Champion in 1976, he has chosen the Energy brand to satisfy his passion for motor sports and karting in Argentina, where he can rely on Silvestre Trobbiani’s assistance (Energy Argentina). Comments by Michele Panigada (team manager) “We are very satisfied with this first race of the season for several reasons. Dorian Boccolacci has succeeded in winning already his first race in KF. It is a great result, given that he has joined our team only recently. His team mate Sam Snell has shown once again that he will be a force to be reckoned with this season. In KFJ, it was incredible to see the Canadian Parker Thomson on the third step of the podium, considering that he is not used to competing in Europe and has practically no experience in that category. Once again, our karts have performed well in all the categories, from KF to KZ. I would like to thank the whole team and all our partners and congratulated them on this race, which enables us to look to 2013 with

One More Victory!

The Energy Corse Team has never gone long without winning a major competition. Already crowned 2012 German KF2 Champion in the penultimate round thanks to two victories at Hahn-Hunsrück, Dennis Olsen triumphed at the WSK Final Cup. Joel Johansson, who was second in KZ2, also contributed to Energy’s outstanding performance at Castelletto di Branduzzo. Competition was tough at Castelletto and there were several candidates to victory at the WSK Final Cup held in Italy in early October. In KF2, a driver and a team definitely stood out of the crowd: Dennis Olsen and Energy Corse. Although he missed out on pole position by just 0.03 seconds, Olsen made it out of the qualifying heats in the lead and then easily won the pre-final and the final. “It was an incredible weekend” Dennis commented. “Once again, my kart was perfect. A big thank you to the Energy Corse team, which has been on the podium with me so many times both in KF3 and in KF2“. In five races overall, the Norwegian driver set four fastest lap times during the races, while the fifth went to… his team mate Vasiliy Romanov ! Though very fast, Romanov did not perform as well as expected on Sunday, while Sam Snell showed his talent again by finishing 8th in the final race. Kevin Rossel, who joined Energy Corse a few weeks ago, concluded with an 11th place. Johansson Back Onto the Podium Not very lucky during the qualifying heats, Joel Johansson showed a great performance on Sunday. “I was only 18th after the three heats and I found it hard to believe I could take a podium. Together with the Energy Corse Team, we fined tuned equipment adjustments and I could regain quite a few positions during the pre-final and the final. Finishing second after driving so little this year is really an excellent result!” the Swedish driver declared. A comment by team manager Mick Panigada “Overall, the team was not able to finish off its good work at the recent World Cups for KZ and KF. I am thinking in particular to Dennis Olsen in Spain. He set the pole in KF2, and then he perfectly managed his race during the heats as well as in the pre-final. He was one of the few drivers who could prevent a CRG driver from winning. Unfortunately he was pushed at the start of the final and lost all his chances. As for Sam Snell, he showed an excellent progression climbing up from 21st to 7th place, while Vasiliy Romanov moved up from 23rd to 14th. During their recovery drives, they set the second and third fastest lap times respectively during the race. And in KZ2, at Sarno, our Energy chassis were well positioned after the heats thanks to Michele Di Martino, Simas Juodvirsis, and Kenneth Ostvold, but in the final phase things did not turn out right. As usual, the team did not give up and Olsen’s victory at the WSK Final Cup proves

Energy: Winner Again, Leader Again!

Some of the most important competitions of the season have taken place over the last few weeks and Energy Corse has conquered several successes and major titles. Once more, the team managed by Mick Panagada has prepared the CIK, WSK and German Championship meetings in the highly professional manner that has become its trademark, in order to create the best possible conditions for its drivers to reach their goals. After his extraordinary European KZ2 Championship, Simas Juodvirsis conquered the 2012 WSK Euro Series, Sam Snell won one of the European KF2 Championship rounds in Britain and Dennis Olsen has become the leader of the German Championship after his double victory at Ampfing. WSK Euro Series: Title For JuodvirsisSimas Juodvirsis concluded his WSK at Zuera as he had begun it at Sarno: with a victory! “I am very happy with my performance“, the Lithuanian driver commented. “I narrowly missed victory on Saturday, but I achieved a great success on Sunday after having being alone in the lead“. Therefore, after Joel Johansson in 2011, Energy Corse maintained its title in KZ2. Johansson was third in Final 1 and could have taken a podium in Final 2 without an unfortunate collision. But Energy was struck by bad luck especially in KF2. Dennis Olsen, Vasily Romanov, and Sam Snell all fell to the back of the pack in the pre-final. But Olsen, who had won three qualifying heats, climbed up from 27th to 6th in the final race, though the WSK final podium was gone!   European KF2/KF3 Championships: Snell winsThere were many Energy karts in the top positions on the circuit of PF International during the final round of the European KF2 & KF3 Championships. In the Junior class, Connor Jupp finished the qualifying phases in 4th position, before concluding the two races in that same position. Thanks to this performance, the Briton moved up to 7th in the Championship after his disappointment in France. Starting 16th, the US driver Santino Ferrucci staged a remarkable recovery up to 5th place. In KF2, Sam Snell (Energy North Europe) is still waiting for CIK official confirmation, but his victory in Race 1 can be taken for granted. The British driver showed a strong performance ahead of the drivers fighting for the title. He finished 6th in the European Championship, where his team mates Dennis Olsen and Niklas Tiihonen were also in the top 10. Leader after the qualifying phase, Olsen was stopped when his chain got stuck while he was leading brilliantly Race 1. As for Tiihonen, he was fourth twice. Vasily Romanov scored points thanks to his 11th and 9th positions. Olsen Leader in GermanyThe Norwegian driver Dennis Olsen was the undisputed leader in the circuit of Ampfing in June: pole position, victories in the two heats and then dominance in Races 1 and 2 in KF2! The Energy driver took advantage of this fourth victory in 2012 in Germany to take the lead of the Championship. Energy Corse is also leader of the team classification! “My compliments to all our drivers, technicians and engine mechanics! Our chassis won in different classes, on different circuits and with several engine brands: this proves the quality and strength of our team” Mick Panigada

Energy: 5 European Titles in KZ2 in 9 Years!

Energy Corse is definitely the reference team in KZ2. Thanks to the competitiveness of its chassis, which improves year after year, the Italian team was crowned European Champion in 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, and 2012! At Wackersdorf (Germany) it even conquered a double success thanks to Simas Juodvirsis and Michele Di Martino. Overall, there were three Energy chassis in the first six places of this final round of the European KZ2 Championship. Third in Final 2 in the KF2 class, Dennis Olsen completed this great overall result for Energy Corse, achieved on 9-10 June. 38 laps in the lead in the final phase out of 38! There was not even a single lap without an Energy chassis in the lead, on Sunday. Simas Juodvirsis and Michele Di Martino (Jedi Racing Team) conquered a deserved double success in this European KZ2 Championship! And incredibly, Juodvirsis had only made his debut in this very competitive class at the start of this season. “I have made a lot of progress in just a few months with the Energy Corse Team”, the Lithuanian driver admitted. “My victory in one of the two rounds of the WSK Master Series proved that we were on the right track and it is fantastic to confirm it with this European Champion title. My kart was really great, both in the rain during the pre-final and on a dry track during the final”. The work of the whole team, as well as Rizzi engine preparations, have definitely paid off. Global Results As for the qualifying heats, Energy chassis showed top performances, both with Energy Corse team drivers as well with the drivers of foreign teams that have decided to collaborate with the Italian brand. “We were the best represented brand in the first twenty positions of the qualifying sessions, with Di Martino’s 2nd place with 3 victories, Zanchetta’s 7th place with 2 victories, Juodvirsis’ 10th place with 1 victory, Kenneth Ostvold’s 11th place with 2 victories, Ricardo Romkema’s 13th place with 1 victory, and to conclude Michaël Christensen’s 19th place. Nine heats won overall! With 111 entrants, it is a very satisfactory global result. Pity that Zanchetta got involved in the collision at the start of the pre-final, because he had clear winning chances. But I am very happy with the final result anyway, a year after the European Champion title conquered in KZ1”, the team manager Michele Panigada commented. KF2: Podium for Olsen As for KF, Energy Corse confirmed again the results achieved both over the last few seasons and at the start of this season in the WSK rounds or in the German Championship. Dennis Olsen proved to be very competitive behind the wheel of his Energy-TM (with a GKS engine). “It is a pity I lost some positions in the pushing and shoving at the start of Final 1, in the rain. I felt very well after my two victories in the heats, but I dropped down to around 20th position on the first lap. I fought hard to regain ground and to exploit at best my kart, which was performing very well. In such conditions, taking the third step of the podium in Final 2 is a good result, because KF2 is very difficult this season, with over 100 entrants and an incredibly high level. And thanks to this third place, I still have my chances in the European Championship, which will end in a month’s time in England”, the Norwegian driver commented. Though very fast during the qualifyings, Niklas Tiihonen (Energy North Europe) was not equally successful on

Results, in Each Race

The international calendar has seldom been so busy at the beginning of the season. Races have followed one after another at a neck-break pace: the WSK, the great Italian classic races and then the start of the CIK/FIA Championships. Always very well organised and structured, the Energy Corse Team has perfectly managed this series of meetings. At each new event, the team managed by Michele Panigada has shown its great kart preparation skills, which have allowed drivers to show excellent performances on international circuits, behind the wheel of their Energy chassis. And again, the results achieved have been very satisfactory, both in KF and in KZ… KZ2: Juodvirsis Wins at SarnoThe Lithuanian driver Simas Juodvirsis has joined the WSK paddock this year after competing in the Rotax DD2. It did not take long for the alchemy with the Energy Corse Team to emerge. Just like his team mate Marco Zanchetta, he has taken the habit of constantly fighting at the front of the pack. The two drivers also achieved a fantastic double success during the first WSK Euro Series final at Sarno. In the rain, Juodvirsis was definitely the fastest on the track and he won ahead of Zanchetta, who had just climbed to 4th in the final classification of the WSK Master Series. KF3: Burst of Speed for Jupp and Ferrucci April and May have been marked by capricious weather and drivers have often faced changing weather conditions. But the team has been able to find the right technical solutions to adapt to and face these hard conditions, as well as to keep a very high level of performance. Unfortunately, in these cases, technical superiority is not all; you also need a bit of luck to achieve results, because sometimes races are a bit like a lottery. Connor Jupp has experienced it personally, in that he has not always been rewarded for his competitiveness, especially in WSK. At the European Championship held at Varennes sur Allier, the Briton was the leader during the heats, but was forced to withdraw in Race 1. He then climbed up from 28th to 14th in Race 2. In this European Championship, the five chassis racing in the competition all gained access to the final phase, and there were as many as 117 drivers overall. In addition to Jupp, drivers from Ennio Gandolfi Racing Team Luca Bottarelli, Danilo Albanese, and the Brazilian Giuliano Raucci, as well as the American driver Santino Ferrucci had a chance to show their worth. The latter has made huge progress with the Energy Corse Team. The American concluded his two races in the top 10 (9th and then 5th), but was also 4th at the WSK Euro Series round of Val d’Argenton. KF2: Olsen and Snell in the Top 10The first two rounds of the WSK Euro Series held in Italy and in France were washed by heavy rains. Already 4th in the WSK Master Series final classification after his excellent results at Castelletto di Branduzzo, the Norwegian driver Dennis Olsen mastered track conditions at Sarno and took the third step of the podium. Sam Snell (Energy Corse North Europe) ended five places behind, but he was the best driver at Val d’Argenton, especially in the pre-final, where he scored the points attributed to the 6th place. As for Vasily Romanov (RUS), luck (and success) was definitely not on his side! Winning Participation in the DKMThe German Championship started at Kerpen with two great victories for the Energy Corse Team. Starting third, Dennis Olsen managed to make the difference and won Final 1 in KF2. In KF3, Toni Wolf (Energy-TM/Jedi Racing Team) took the lead of the Championship after his victory in Final 1 and his second place – in addition to the best lap – in Final 2. Energy chassis also showed some impressive performances in KZ2, with a second place in Final 1 with Simas
