New Drivers, New Successes

In addition to winning many races every year to proudly show the qualities of Energy chassis and of its competition structure, Energy Corse is also committed to train young drivers as well as to ensure the best possible conditions for all those who wear the team colours, in order to allow them to shine on national and international podiums. Instilling a culture of victory is a permanent challenge for team manager Mick Panigada and his highly competent team. At the Winter Cup as well as during the first meetings of the WSK Master Series, drivers behind the wheels of their Energy-TMs have already shown a series of top level performances. The “Energy Power” will certainly be in the spotlight in 2012…             Winter Cup: Two Podiums in KFAfter many successes with Energy in KF3, Dennis Olsen has taken on the KF2 challenge with his regular team. The Norwegian driver claimed pole position right away in his group and was the leader after the qualifying heats thanks to his four victories. Less comfortable on Sunday after a drop in temperatures, Olsen fought right to the end and claimed the third step of the podium. In KF3, the Italian Danilo Albanese staged this same performance despite having much less experience than many of his rivals. Among the many drivers belonging to the Energy Corse structure, Sam Snell was 8th in KF2, while Connor Jupp made himself noticed by winning three heats in KF3. The German drivers Fabian Schiller and Tony Wolf, as well as the Brazilian Jose-Artur Fortunato were also very fast. WSK Master Series: Victory for ZanchettaMarco Zanchetta’s debut with Energy Corse did not go unnoticed. 6th at the Winter Cup and best driver in his category behind five drivers normally racing in KZ1, the Italian was the first winner of the series in KZ2. He won on Saturday and he finished second on Sunday on the circuit of La Conca, drawing attention to his chassis high level of performance. He will try to conquer the title at Castelletto di Branduzzo, next 1 April. Accustomed to DD2, the Lithuanian driver Simas Juodvirsis showed his ability to progress in KZ. He even conquered a 4th place in a final at La Conca, but then was inflicted a penalty. In KF2, Dennis Olsen was struck by bad luck at La Conca, but soon found his way to the podium again at Sarno. Instead, it was in the far south of Italy that the Briton Sam Snell and the Russian Vasily Romanov achieved their best result in this class, where the level of performance is very high.In KF3, Connor Jupp and Felix Nilsson entered the top 10 at La Conca. The Briton improved his times enough to climb up to 6th in the final. As for Nilsson, who joined Energy Corse at the beginning of the season, he had never been so fast in a WSK meeting: 6th after the heats, 2nd in his pre-final, and 9th in the final after a small incident. This year has definitely started under the best auspices for Energy Corse and there will be more opportunities in the meetings to

Energy Collects Successes

In less than 10 days, at the end of July, the Zuera circuit brought a long series of podiums, victories and titles to the Energy team, both at the WSK Euro Series and at the CIK-FIA European KF2-KF3 Championships. Considering the many other successes gleaned since the start of the year, Energy Corse is definitely the most effective team in 2011, since none of the other structures can boast such a list of achievements at international level in a half season. Energy Corse knows the meaning of the word “team”. Within the structure skilfully managed by Michele Panigada, nothing is left to chance. Equipment is always perfectly prepared, but the human factor is not forgotten either. It remains a key element for success, as explained by the boss “Kart drivers are often very young and really need to be supported and advised at best. Energy is there to get them on the right track and help them manage their races at best. We have the necessary detachment, competence and experience to help them progress and win“. European KF2 ChampionSami Luka lived 10 intense days in Spain. He conquered the European KF2 Championship and then was on the podium again at the WSK Euro Series, which allowed him to take the second place in the general classification. The first words of the Belgian driver were for his team. “We have made a lot of work since the beginning of the season. The team and I have always done the maximum to keep the equipment at the top. We were definitely ready for the big day. Though I benefited from a penalty inflicted to the leader for early start, I sincerely think we had the best technical solution in Zuera. During the final of the European Championship, I lost time in the pack, but then I could drive at a very fast and very regular pace, and my tyres remained in excellent conditions until the end“.Sami Luka confirmed his excellent form at the final of the WSK Euro Series. “I was 4th in the Championship classification before the Spanish round, and I have concluded as vice Champion. It’s great! A big thank you to the Energy team as well as to GKS for its high-performance TM engines“. KF3: Competitive at Each RaceSince the start of this season, the Norwegian Dennis Olsen and the Swedish Robin Hansson have been among the best performers in KF3. Making the podium has become a sort of habit for them. In June, Olsen also won the CIK/FIA Viking Trophy ahead of his team mate Hansson. Member of the Energy Norway team, Cedrik Fonn Skare secured a fantastic triple success for the Italian make. Olsen conquered another success at the third round of the WSK Euro Series, at La Conca, and seemed determined to replicate Energy Corse’s high level of performance at the European Championship. Unfortunately, at the start of the pre-final, when he was the leader after the qualifying phase, he made a mistake with heavy consequences. It was Robin Hansson who entered the lead pack and became vice European Champion KF3 after a flawless drive. As for Olsen, who started past the 30th place, he put in a stunning recovery drive to 7th place. Moreover, he was third in the final classification of the WSK Euro Series.   Johansson, Champion in KZ2Six weeks after Kenneth Ostvold’s victory (Energy Norway team) at the CIK/FIA Viking Trophy, Energy conquered another title in KZ2 thanks to Joel Johansson’s success at the WSK Euro Series. “A WSK crown means a lot in the career of a driver. And we made it because our team has always been competitive – I was on the podium four times out of four –” the Swedish driver commented. After the European KZ1 title won by Paolo De Conto, Energy Corse remains more than ever a reference for the 125cc gearbox categories. Second in KF2 and KF3, Energy also won the Eurocup (WSK Euro Series teams’ classification) in

European KZ1 Champion: Energy Makes It!

The meeting in Wackersdorf (Germany) was definitely one of the two most important events of the season. This is why the Energy Corse team had prepared meticulously for the most coveted European Championship in 2011, KZ1, where the best drivers in the world and all major international teams compete. Italian Paolo De Conto put in a fantastic performance. Leader after the qualifying heats and winner of the pre-final, he triumphed in the final race at the wheel of his Energy-TM/Rizzi. Crowned KZ2 vice European Champion, Swedish Joel Johansson showed that Energy has definitely been the most successful on the very demanding circuit of Wackersdorf. These brilliant results came to add to those achieved over the last few weeks in the WSK Master Series. De Conto and Energy: The Successful Story Continues Paolo De Conto put up a near-perfect performance, especially on Sunday afternoon when he was at the lead in 40 of the 42 laps in the final phase. And he crossed the finish line as winner with a clear lead. “Although I won the European KZ2 Championship in 2010 (with Energy team of course), I thought I could not replicate that success on my first season in KZ1, in the middle of such experienced drivers. But I could rely on a kart which was formidably effective from the first to the last lap. Both in the pre-final and final race, once I got in the lead, I could quickly gain ground and then control my race by remaining focussed until the end!“ Energy Always at the Top in KZ2 Fighting each year for the podium or victory in the European KZ2 Championship has become a constant for Energy, which has conquered many victories in this category. This time, it was Joel Johansson who became vice European Champion. “This result is a great joy for me, because I made a silly mistake in a heat on Saturday and I had to fight during the whole final phase to be able to get to second place“. WSK Master Series: Heading Towards the Title Week after week, race after race, Energy continues to devote all its efforts to allowing its drivers to get to the lead, in all the categories. In the WSK Master Series, Paolo De Conto conquered two more successes, first at Val Vibrata in May, and then at Siena, in June. He is now leader of the KZ1 Championship one meeting before the conclusion. In KF3, Energy put up a splendid team performance at Val Vibrata with Robin Hansson, Thiago Vivacqua, Vasily Romanov, and Dennis Olsen classified from the 2nd to the 5th place! Olsen was only 33rd on the start grid… Again very fast in Siena, Hansson is now aiming to the second place in the provisional standings. The excellent performances shown by Sami Luka and Nicolaj Moller-Madsen in KF2 at Val Vibrata are also worth mentioning, as well as progress made by young hopefuls Isac Valtonen (Sweden), Giuliano Rauchi (Brazil), and Nikita Alexandrov (Russia) in 60 Mini. Michele Panigada’ Comments“For Energy Corse, it is a fantastic emotion to win the European KZ1 Championship, because this is the first year we have decided to make a real effort in this category. After Dunlop’s decision to use medium tyres instead of the soft ones initially chosen, I think we were among those who found the best technical solutions to adapt our chassis to that change and to the characteristics of this difficult circuit, in addition to perfectly managing tyre wear as well. These titles are also the result of a sporting policy we implemented together with our drivers. Paolo De Conto and Joel Johansson have been in the team for several years now and they have made important progress, step by step. We are proud of the success of this specific work aimed at preparing for the future. I would like to thank the whole team, Energy importer to Germany for his support for this meeting and our preparer Rizzi, which made a great job in this very prestigious

Winning Season Debut

New season, new design, new structure and new victories! For Energy, the karting international design in 2011 has started with Dennis Olsen on the first step of the podium in KF3 at the Winter Cup (Lonato), and has continued with Paolo De Conto’s brilliant success at the WSK Master Series (La Conca). Technical developments on equipment and an enhanced partnership with Rizzi in KZ and GKS in KF are already bearing their fruits… Winter Cup: Brilliant Performance by Energy in KF3 Already during free practice, the Energy Corse team knew that it had worked in the right direction during winter. Its drivers reached immediately the lead places and repeated their brilliant performances during the race. In KZ2, despite the presence of most of the best drivers in the world, Joël Johansson and Paolo De Conto conquered the first two places after the qualifying heats. The rain came to disrupt the event on Sunday. Caught in the scrimmage at the start, De Conto managed to go up to 5th, two places ahead of Johansson. In KF3, Energy colours were shining bright on the podium. Dennis Olsen passed the finish line with an advantage of over 3 seconds on his immediate pursuer, while his team mate – and winner of the pre-final – concluded third! WSK Master Series: De Conto Wins in KZ1 Despite the constantly changing weather conditions, Paolo De Conto staged an impressive performance in KZ1. After conquering the pole position and finishing second on a wet track on Saturday, the 2010 European champion won all three Sunday’s races on a dry track, including a brilliant victory in the final. And now he is the leader of the championship! In KF3, instead, Robin Hansson was the big loser of the day. He won two heats, but was forced to retire during the pre-final. He concluded in twelfth position after recovering as many 21 places! Unable to find a way through at the start, Dennis Olsen had to content himself with a seventh place. And in KF2, Sami Luka never left the top positions during the weekend and ended fourth, just a few lengths away from the podium. 60 Mini: A Bright Future Ahead of Them Five drivers raced on Energy chassis in the 60 Mini category: Nikita Alexandrov (RUS), Lorenzo Travasanutto (ITA), Isac Valtonen (SWE), Giuliano Raucci (BRA) and Anton Haaga (SWE) from GRT Karting Team. “We have offered many drivers the opportunity to win in KF and KZ, but it is also very interesting to keep focus on younger drivers. Energy will do everything it can to give them a chance to emerge. This race has already given us a an opportunity to show how fast our chassis is“, said Alberto Tonti from Energy team. New Structure In addition to the technical competences of Energy Corse Team, Michele Panigada’s structure attaches great importance to the presentation and image of karting it conveys during events. Therefore, it has taken advantage of the Winter Cup to inaugurate a new and modern motor-home designed to create the best possible conditions for its drivers in 2011. This structure comes with a new decoration on chassis bodyworks. Michele Panigada’ Comments “We have meticulously prepared this 2011 season and I am very pleased whent our drivers transform our efforts into victories. We are competitive in every category, from 60 Mini to KZ, and this proves that our efforts to enhance our technical potential last winter have been successful. I would also like to thank our engine-tune up specialits for their hard work. GKS’ TMs in KF as well as Rizzi’s in KZ are highly
